This is exactly how this book approaches the problem – it starts by stating the problem at first and analysing the earliest ideas, continues by reviewing the development of science and different paradigms throughout history and finally presents modern views of time and space. In order to do that, the author slowly introduces the concepts of classical and quantum mechanics, electrodynamics and relativity. Finally, he presents us again with the same two thousand years old questions and answers, but now under the light of modern science. A reader already familiar with physics and mathematics will be very happy with the precise scientific style of the book, whereas readers without previous knowledge might in the beginning be overwhelmed by such line of thought. Nevertheless, the well-written text and the interesting topic of the book keep the reader's attention all the time and create a feeling of "I want to know what happens next", rather surprising for a scientific essay. I would highly recommend the book to anyone who either wants to spend a few quality hours re-discovering a known, but maybe slightly neglected topic, or who seeks an intriguing introduction to this field where science and philosophy meet.
